The top card on the kitty is: 9C
Computer (CMA) Player 1 (JD,10H,9H,JH,10C) > Player 1 passes
Computer (CMA) Player 2 (AH,9D,QS,KD,QH) > Player 2 passes
Computer (CMA) Player 3 (KH,AD,QC,AC,QD) > Player 3 passes
Computer (CMA) Player 4 (KC,9S,JC,JS,10D) > Player 4 passes
Everybody passed, so bid for a suit.
Computer (CMA) Player 1 (JD,10H,9H,JH,10C) > Player 1 called H trump and
is going alone.
Computer (CMA) Player 1 (JD,10H,9H,JH,10C) leads > Player 1 played JH.
Computer (CMA) Player 2 (AH,9D,QS,KD,QH) > Player 2 played QH.
Computer (CMA) Player 4 (KC,9S,JC,JS,10D) > Player 4 played 9S.
Player 1 won the round.

Computer (CMA) Player 1 (JD,10H,9H,10C) leads > Player 1 played JD.
9H

I don't know why it is 9H? From what I understand it should always try
to play the ideal order until it is no longer possible?

"If the player has the lead, its ideal strategy is to play the right
bower, followed by the left bower, followed by an off-suit
ace, followed by any trump in the hand (lowest trump), then the highest
card left in the hand.
If it cannot follow this strategy (in particular, if it does not have
(or had) both bowers and an off-suit ace), it will lead in
order of preference:
• the right bower
• the first off-suit ace in the hand
• the lowest trump
• the first highest non-trump card in hand"

I was assuming that it would keep going by the ideal strategy until it
can not?

The computer player (when leading) plays the ideal strategy if it starts
with a hand for it (both bowers and an off-suit ace) -- this should give
it 3 tricks to win the game hand.

If it doesn't have these three cards to start with, it follows the
second strategy:
right bower
first off-suit ace
lowest trump
first highest nontrump

Maybe not ideal, but that's the specified strategy (in the project
description and in newsgroup postings).

Ok fine.. then in seed 0 player 3 has the hand (9H, JC, QD, AS JS) and
plays the JC followed by the JS

BUT

he does not have the ideal hand since it says he must play in the
following order

"right bower, followed by the left bower, followed by an off-suit ace,
followed by any trump in the hand (lowest trump), then the highest card
left in the hand."

He can not play the lowest trump in his hand after playing the JS and JC
since he has no trump...

Ok I fixed it if it has the both bowers and an off ace, that wording was
confusing, sorry. (still think it is ambiguous)
